UNCLE PETE, AUNT MARY AND ILVENTOS´S...GONE BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN. I came across this old tribute page while researching for our on tribute in this year which would have been Uncle Pete´s centennial. What the posters below express is a universal sentiment that I have heard over and over since the restaurant closed and Mary and Pete passed. Uncle Pete and aunt Mary were special people and that all came thru in their special family resturant. Those who had the privilege of dining there know...

So well remembered are the times Brother Bill, Jed and I had lunch with Peter and were treated to Peter's warm personality and his thorough knowledge of the restaurant business in Jersey City -- the establishments, their owners, their history. Peter's own restaurant, Ilvento's, was our favorite, and this genial man had a great rapport with those who dined there. He was a great asset to the business and now a special memory for his many friends. Here's to "Uncle" Pete.

I grew up on West Side Ave during the 60's and the family was blessed to be able to eat at Ilvento's. The 'Lady' who sat us, and the man who walked throughout the dining room, were legends to all who dined on the hand-made food. May Mary and Pete continue their blessing union, in another welcoming place. RIP to both of you.

Pete you were an angel on earth now you'll be an even bigger angel in heaven RIP we enjoyed working for you rosemary and Giovanni Siano

Rest in peace. Fine loving man. Great stop to grab a meal of many "wheelmen".
