Dear Nancy and Family,

I was unable to attend the service, and I was greatly saddened by the news of Peter's passing. He was to me a great influence as a professor and later as a colleague and friend. I had great admiration for him, I enjoyed knowing his family, and I will miss him very much. I will especially miss the gentle good humor that he shared with me. Please accept the most heartfelt condolences from Diana and me. God's peace be with you all at this time.
