The most honorable man I have had the pleasure of calling a good friend. A family man of great conviction who treated all people with respect. He will be missed both socially and professionally by all who had the good fortune to know him.

Rep Kocot was a special gentleman and a great source of pride for Northampton. He dealst with an issue for our family and we have been eternally grateful since. Please accept my condolences in the loss of you husband, father and sibling.

Dear Shauneen, Jake and Luke,
It was always such a joy to bump into Pete. He was always so pleasant and welcoming. He will be missed by so many people for so many reasons. The love he had had his family was visible to all. My heart breaks for you. May the memories of a wonderful man be your comfort during this very difficult time. My thoughts, prayers and love to you all.

Chairman Kocot died February 21 after a brief illness. Chairman Kocot was an advocate for strengthening transparency through public record and open meeting laws and a champion for the most recent updates in the law. He was 61.

Dear Shauneen and Family. I'm so sorry for your loss. Peter sounds like a wonderful person, who will live on in your hearts and memories. My heart goes out to you all. May you find comfort in the love you shared with him, and may your community hold you closely.

To the Kocot Family -

Peter was a hero to the LGBT community. From his first days in the legislature, he supported and advocated for our community. In the 10 year battle for marriage equality, Pete was an early and unshakable ally; someone we knew we could count on through thick and thin.

He was a kind, thoughtful and caring legislator. His votes on marriage equality helped to make history - in Massachusetts and eventually in the nation as well. He will always be...
