Not sure what to say?

I was Peter's Piano Technician, and conversation friend. One of of the first things I noticed about Peter was his easy smile, and distinctive chuckle. I serviced his piano in the beginning at his house in NW. Waking up the steps to that big porch, made it feel grand, (Peter would chuckle at that...!). That was early 2010. Servicing his piano was always an adventure that I looked forward to, because it meant we would have a great conversation about most anything; his latest project or...

Remember Peter for so many acts of kindness- tutoring me through Calculus 1, teaching me to play squash on Dunster House courts, encouraging my own singing in Glee Club and St. Paul´s Church. Fun visits in New York when Kathy and I first lived there. A puckish, ever present amusement about everything happening in life. Paul Thornton, Harvard roommate

I met Peter at Photon Kinetics where he worked in engineering. I had been hired right after business school and had everything to learn about manufacturing optical fiber testing equipment. Peter was unerringly helpful and thorough which helped me tremendously. So began a decades long friendship that extended to Sherrie and included my husband. How lucky I was to have met Peter and known him for more than 40 years. To the end Peter seemed to still delight in many things but especially relished...

I always loved visiting with Peter - his warmth, his wit, his sparkle, and his amazing voice. He evoked rich colors and gently flowing deep water. I will miss him. I send you my love and sympathy.

I attended Harvard College with Peter during 1963-67, where we both lived in Dunster House. We both went on to graduate school at Berkeley, where we shared an apartment in 1967-68. Our paths diverged for the next 57 years, but I remember fondly many conversations about bacterial chemotaxis and opera music.

Single Memorial Tree

God speed Peter. Thank you for all of your contributions.

We will remember Peter´s deep voice, love of poetry and music, and kindness. We will miss him and we send our love to the family.

Coming to grips with the passing of colleague, mentor and friend of 40 years is daunting but I shall try by remembering not only Peter's technical prowess in his field, but his shimmering intelligence and questing mind, not to mention the soul of a musician that lifted him above the crowd. What a gift he gave to those of us who knew him. I stand with Sherrie, Sarah and the other members of his family in paying silent homage to a great yet humble man who died young but who delayed it as long...
