Peter John Macris

My husband and I first met Peter when we were stationed in Frankfurt, Germany, from 1960 to 1963. As newly-weds, we began our cicle of friends in Germany with Peter, whom we met when we joined a Bach choir there. He was our first guest for our first-time Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, and we had him over for the subsequent years. We loved his passion for music and his depth of knowledge about music. Dear Macris family,

It was a deep joy to know and make music with Peter. I don't care what his age was -- he sang with conviction and musicality, verve and vitality. He communicated all things with love and compassion, and he inspired me to be a better musician and person. I am glad to have know him and members of his lively, wise, and talented family.

For nearly 20 years, Peter and I produced and directed plays for Orpheus Theatre. I have never had a colleague of greater integrity and vision, or a friend more valued. My love and prayers go out to his wonderful family.

Oneonta has been in mourning since hearing about Peter's passing. I have been in several places around town where memories have been shared and it has brought back many of my own. I feel blessed to have known him. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
