Not sure what to say?

Peter Madison tried to help me find where I had dropped my watch.
Princeton hired Peter, a fish-out-of-water faculty member, during my sophomore year. Almost every other psychology faculty member was an experimental psychologist who tilted toward rigor rather than reality and this profile characterized almost all the faculty of the prestigious psychology departments in America.

Peter Madison was a personality psychologist, not an experimental psychologist, and he certainly...

Hi Colleen: (and the rest of the Hastings whom I don't know - apologies)
Thanks for writing about my Dad - He spoke of you often until his memory started to fail toward the end. You were special to him in a difficult time of his life and we were so grateful you visited him!

He passed peacefully in the end after a hard six months, but he was very, very ready to go and I picture him in joy wherever he is.

Thanks again for all of your memories!

I loved Peter and I am truly grateful every day for his presence in my life. I was a total, punky teenager when he was in my life and he endured me all the same. When I visit Tucson with my husband Ned, who also knew Peter, I look at the mountains and remember all the hikes we did together, mostly reluctantly on my part. Such fondness now. I stumbled on some photos his son Dave took of me in the Sierras on a backpacking trip and again was reminded of his love of nature and how he was willing...

I was also fortunate to have Peter in my life as a teenager and young adult. He instilled me with confidence entering the U of A, and my love of hiking and backpacking has endured to this day. I thought of him often during my last trip up Long's Peak (Colorado) with my daughter 3 years ago. His quiet and strong integrity has become a cornerstone of my life as well. I offer condolences to his children and grandchildren, and I'm very grateful that he was a part of my life.

My sister,Colleen Hastings Mackey and I, Lise' Hastings White, were very fortunate to have lived with Peter in Tucson, AZ during our teenage years. He was a selfless, honorable man and I/we have nothing but respect for him. We especially fondly recall his passion for hiking and have wonderful memories of our summer backpacking trips with him in the Rockies and Sierras. To his children, I offer my condolences. He made a positive difference in my life.
With sympathy,
Lise'...

How lucky I was in 1980 to be admitted to Peter's clinical group class. Aside from what I learned from him, I took his advice and attended the Goulding's Redecision Therapy workshop which was life changing for me. I am forever grateful to Peter for his sage advice and willingness to share himself with his students. He was staunchly honest and famously proud of his Lithuanian heritage. What a good and decent man!
