Not sure what to say?

Mr. Mauro may you fly in the heavens band Thank You For being an awesome instructor.I remember going to the Dakota Days festival in Rapid City,SoDak. 1976 I Pray for your family as I now have a Granddaughter playing the trumpet as I did PS your class was always fun

I met Pete in 1971 at York College. First thing he did when he set foot on campus was to form a group: Pete Mauro and the Patriotic Pennsylvanians. And I was privileged to be asked to join. The pic is from 1972. Pete was, as described in the article: 'a trumpet virtuoso'. But he was much more than that as all of these comments attest. Rest in peace old friend!

I remember talking care of him from a 911 call when he had chest pain at work. During the trip to the hospital he interviewed me for an assistant director for the marching band. Also during that trip when I was going to start an IV on him he asked what instrument I played. I said clarinet why? He said he would tell me after I started the IV. I did and he said that if I played the trombone he wouldn´t have let me try to do the IV because of the slide . I was hired the next day and thanks...

I just stumbled on this as well.

I was not a member of the band in BRHS EAST 1978-1982. But I was in advanced choir, which was next door to the band room. Sometimes you heard the choir director, Mrs. Carmen Federici, yelling or it was Mr. Paul Mauro. They both believed we could achieve greatness. Mr. Mauro knew I was not band material. Acoustic guitar was not a position in the marching band. But, he knew I loved music. He often joked, "I don't need to see you. I can HEAR you."...

I just came upon this obituary by chance. I was in the band at Dows high school in Iowa. We were Mr. Mauro's first teaching assignment after he graduated from the University of Iowa. In less than one year he developed his students into a group who he took to a music festival in Rapid City, SD where we took first place. Thank you Mr. Mauro for developing my love for music.

To understand the impact made by Pete Mauro, one need look no further than the many entries in this guest book from BRHS East students who are 3 decades removed from Mr. Mauro's classroom. His passion, humor, talent, and teachings transcended the band room and football field and left indelible marks. What he created at East was pure magic. My deepest condolences to the Mauro family.

I am so sorry to hear of Mr. Mauro's passing. He was a wonderful teacher and friend. He taught us to reach for excellence. I have so many great memories. He will be missed. May he rest in eternal peace.

What a very sad loss for all who knew Peter Mauro. We first met Peter when he was band director at Bridgewater East High School. His enthusiasm and positive attitude resulted not only in outstanding bands but he developed self confidence and a sense of accomplishment in the children. Peter later taught our children various instruments as a private teacher. He became a family friend who was a joy to know. We will never forget him. He and his family will be in our prayers.

We are so sorry to hear of Mr. Mauro's passing. As a parent, I loved what he did for my shy daughter who came out of her shell through music. He gave her a special job and gave her confidence. She now teaches her own children love of music. Thank you Mr. Mauro. Mrs. Mauro and family, we are truly sorry for your loss.
