Peter “Buster” Charles Medico, 75, of Carley Road, died on Friday, April 7, 2006, at The Highlands in Fitchburg, MA., after a period of failing health. He was born in South Boston, MA, on January 22, 1931, the son of Joseph and Lucy (Difiore) Medico. Prior to moving to Peterborough in 1985, he had resided in Tewksbury, MA, and several other areas throughout the world due to his military service career.
He served in the US Army from February 1948 to November 1968, stationed overseas in Vietnam, Japan and Greenland. Retiring from the US Army after 21 years of service with the rank SFC E-7, he was employed by the US Army for seventeen years at Fort Devens, MA, as an Aircraft inspector. He worked for PSNH in Keene, NH, and his last employment before full retirement was at Davidson Flight Service, Boire Field, Nashua, NH.
Mr. Medico was a member of the Retired Enlisted Association and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No 5613, Jaffrey, NH. He also held a Federal License for Aircraft and Powerplant mechanic.
During his leisure time, he greatly enjoyed researching on the internet, communicating with friends and family via e-mail, and watching western and military movies. A mechanically oriented individual who enjoyed tinkering with tools, he was always involved in numerous home projects. His philosophy was to take life as it was dealt to him.
Family members include his wife of 48 years, Shiromi Aota Medico of Peterborough; a son, Peter Joseph Medico of Peterborough; three brothers, Joseph E. Medico of Magalia, CA, William Busineau of North Andover, MA, Charles Medico of Marlboro, MA; a sister, Lucille M. Clark of Wilmington, MA; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, April 11, 5-8PM and on Wednesday, April 12, 10-11AM, at Jellison Funeral Home, 25 Concord Street, Peterborough. A funeral service will commence at 11AM, at Jellison Funeral Home, with the Reverend Gerald Belanger, Pastor of St. Peter Church, Peterborough, officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Pine Hill Cemetery on Thursday, April 13, at 1PM .
Jellison Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 25 Concord Street, Peterborough, is assisting the family with arrangements.
