Peter George Mehas was born on October 1, 1939, and passed away on September 27, 2013, a few days shy of his 74th birthday. He had just returned from the 'trip of a lifetime' through Eastern Europe and Greece with his wife Demi, and close friends, when he suffered a ruptured thoracic aortic...

Not sure what to say?

I can still see Coach Mehas arriving at Edison High School in his Porsche. He was a very enegetic coach and he invited all of us Tiger Football players to his families restaurant 'The Athenian' and treated us to Dinner. He was a real inspiration to us Tiger football players back in the day. May he rest in peace.

Sending out our prayers and love to you and your family during this difficult time. Peter G. was quite an exceptional friend-professional and confidant. He was instrumental in nominating my father, Lee Angelich into the Fresno Athletic Hall of Fame, and we will be forever grateful for that, as well. We will continue to pray for you and the family as you transition through your unexpected loss. How great though that you had another trip to Europe together! His life truly made a difference...

My condolences to the family. I worked with Tulla.

Dear Pete Mehas Family, I had the pleasure of being a student in one of his first teaching positions at Roosevelt High in 1964. He always had a infectious smile and a positive outlook on life. As a tennis coach, he challenged us to try harder and work hard, and would praise us even if we were not performing well. I am sorry for his passing, however, I will remember him always as a "Good Man"!!

I worked as a vendor for security services for several school districts under direction of Pete for as long as I can remember I knew him as a great mind and a great person in his perfessional Carrer and always admired him

Dear Pete Mehas Family,

Our family has many treasured memories of Pete. We shared common goals and attended many of the same religious, social, cultural and educational events. Pete always cared about the kids. He would say, "Don't you just love them!" He had a very tender heart. He loved opera as did my husband, the late Dr. Al Falcone for whom he served as pallbearer at dear St. George Greek Orthodox Church in 2001.

Children of all abilities, ethnicities and ages always...

Dear Demi and Family,
Jim, Jaime and I were so very sorry to hear of the sudden passing of Pete. We adored him. I personally have such great memories of our days at Clovis Unified where he hired me as a first year kindergarten teacher. We continued to talk and laugh about that interview for years. My daughter was also fortunate to be chosen Miss Fresno Country, where Pete served on the panel of judges. His love and support for Jaime and all of the girls that competed was apparent .

My memories of Peter Mehas are at family gatherings and his fierce debates with his mother Silvia. Peter had strong principles and always on the side of the child to reach their full potential. The other memory was over the support he gave to immigrant children to become productive and good citizens away from gangs, dropping out of school to give hope through education. Peter and Demi were big supporters of the Arts. Through the "Arts in the Education" program our Lively Arts Foundation,...

Dear Demi & Family,
My heartfelt sympathy in the loss of your husband and father. I retired in June of this year after 40 years working for Clovis Unified School District and as I was going through my "Personal" file I found many, many notes from Pete thanking me for this job or that job - I just couldn't throw them away. He was ALWAYS so thoughtful and took the time to thank you for even the most mundane task. I started out in the print shop; just a kid in my early twenties and...
