I will always remember Peter as the kind, strong chef and bartender at my grandparents' restaurant. He was always good-natured and helpful and he loved kids. I saw him more as a kind of uncle and I loved when he would take me in his Oldsmobile to a long disappeared drugstore and soda shop near the Strathmore paper mill where he would buy me a milkshake and I could drink it at the counter sitting next to him. He would tell me about the marines and the Korean War, and I learned a lot about life...
