Pete (Dad) passed away peacefully to our Lord, with his family at his side, on August 14, 2013 in Crows Landing, CA.   He was 91 years old.  He will be missed by loved ones and friends and is fondly remembered for his creativity and musical talent.
He was born in Wilmington, CA to Maria and Joseph on June 30th, 1922.  He was the ninth of 14 children.
He enlisted in the Army in June 1941 and became a member of the 82nd Airborne Division, which was the first airborne division of the United States Army. He participated in the United States Army's first parachuting initiative, as both a paratrooper and a belly gunner of B-17 Bombers. One of his missions included being parachuted into Australia to protect President Roosevelt. He served in both the European and Pacific wars. In recent years, on a visit to Hawaii, he was an honored guest at the USS Arizona Memorial.
After serving in the Army, he returned to Wilmington to pursue a local music career. He played in multiple bands, including the Frank Santos Orchestra and his music was aired on local radio stations.
In 1947, he moved to Santa Rosa and met the love of his life, Mercy.  They married in February 1952 and were married for over 61 years. They moved to Crows Landing in 1958 where they continued raising their five children.
He began working for Dompe Warehouse in 1958 and retired as foreman of their warehouse in 1985.
He was a member of the Crows Landing Lions Club for many years and was a past president. He was a volunteer for the Crows Landing Fire Department.  In addition, he was instrumental in forming the local branch of the Comite Mexicano de Beneficencia where he served as the first president.
He is survived by his loving wife Mercy Mora and his children: Evelyn Avila (Louie) of Patterson, Mike Mora (Elena) of Long Beach, Ben Mora (Jan) of Modesto, Paul Mora of Patterson, Julie Gabriel (George) of Patterson, Rita Bellhouse (Leo) of Nueva, Pauline Gonzales of San Pedro. He has eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
A Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Hillview Funeral Chapel in Patterson on Monday, August 19th.  A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, August 20th at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Patterson.  Interment will be private.

Aunt Mercy, I am very saddened in many ways to hear of Uncle Pete's passing. I have allowed way too many years to go by and didn't keep in touch,,life got in the way...I have many memories of visiting you with my grandparents and many of you and Uncle Pete coming to gradman's house.
