Curran-Jones Funeral Home - West Springfield Obituary

Peter L. Morgan, 77, passed peacefully on the evening of Wednesday, July 10, 2024. Peter was born in Springfield and lived his life in his beloved town of West Springfield. He graduated from West Springfield High School in 1964. Following two years at Andover College, he was drafted into the United States Army and was deployed to Vietnam from 1967 to 1969. Upon his return home, Peter joined the West Springfield Fire Department, retiring in 2002 after 31 years of service. While on the Fire Department, Peter attended night school and received his associates degree and served as the President of the Fireman’s Union. His business, Morgan Concrete, was highly successful. His work can be seen across West Side and surrounding towns. He was lovingly known as Concrete Pete to some, Papa Pete to others. He was a selfless man, always giving his time to friends and family and he never stopped giving back to the community.  Peter was proudest of his grandchildren, always encouraging them to do their best, and loving them unconditionally.

Peter is survived by his wife of 52 years, Linda Morgan; his sister Irene Scalise; his daughter Kimberly Morgan Syme and her husband Matthew; his son John Guagliardo and stepsons Robert and Richard Guagliardo. He also leaves his six grandchildren Justin, Evan, Madelyn, Jayden, Mia, and Morgan; his two nieces Jennifer and Amy; and his great nephew Shane.

Services will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Wednesday, July 24th. Visiting hours begin at 11:00, service at 12:30, followed by a burial ceremony at Massachusetts Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Agawam at 2:00 PM.

Wishing Pete's family healing. We met Pete through Drew Cowell, who was building a family room for us. We needed a concrete patio on each side of the new room. Pete came highly regarded and recommended by Drew. We were so grateful to Pete and his associate that came to help put that all together. Kind, funny, personable, professional and we were so pleased to make his acquaintance. We have a lovely patio to show for his hard work. We are grateful and appreciative. We extend warm...
