Not sure what to say?

I wanted to share that your family bakery is a special part of my early childhood. My brother and I would ride our bikes (mid '60's) from our house (Ave B) to Morrell's and get a cinnamon roll. They are still the standard that I hold cinnamon rolls to today (and the brown, paper bag is a necessary ingredient). I refer to these memories often. Thank you to your family for giving memories to other families.

I'm just now learning of Pete's passing. Jean was my Mentor at UNC and I was fortunate to meet Pete through her. He was a warm and kind person. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family, especially Jean.

Jean, just now learning of Pete’s passing. My heart is broken for you and the entire family. Prayers and much love to you. Wendy and Brad

We have lost a great community leader. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.

To Giesele and Kent, I have nothing but fond memories of your amazing dad. He was always upbeat and had a light hearted way of kidding around with us that made me feel good. He says that he never had to pay for the newspaper for a whole two years.. ha, ha.

In loving memory of a wonderful person. We will love you and miss you always.

Pete was a bigger than life individual and will be sorely missed.
May you find comfort in your faith at this difficult time.

I was saddened to learn of Pete's passing. A man like him can never be replaced and the world is a better place that he was here and impacted so many of us in a positive way. I first met Pete when I worked as a cashier in the City Finance Department in the 80's and he would come to my counter every morning to buy a stamp to mail his daily letter to "his Mama." As City Manager, he always made sure staff escorted citizens to the department they were looking for vs. just pointing them in the...
