Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home - Sebring Obituary

Peter Blair Neptune born 4-23-1949 in Weymouth, Massachusetts, passed away on 2-2-2024 at the age of 74.  His cause of death was ALS and it was tragic to watch the disease attack him. Pete faced it with bravery like all things he did in life.

Pete’s parents, Francis Stanley Neptune and Virginia Elizabeth Vines, both deceased, moved to Hallandale Beach, FL in the early 1950’s. Pete excelled in sports at an early age and played them all with excellence.  In 1961 Pete moved with his family to Sebring FL. Pete graduated from Sebring High School where in his senior year was the MVP for Football and the Basketball teams. He also won the typing award that got him a lot of laughs at the awards program.  He also had an appointment to go to the United States Naval Academy.

Pete loved to work and travel. He loved the outdoors with hobbies of hunting, fishing, golf, whitewater rafting and the list goes on.  Since 2011 Pete worked for Hidden Acres Nursery as Manufacturers Rep, sales, and delivery.  He was loved by his customers, co-workers, and family.

Pete is survived by his daughter Nicole Dickerson Neptune, Los Angeles, CA, and her daughters Keira J. Walker, 16, and Aiyana J. Walker, 15.  His brother Fransis Stanley Neptune (Chip) and his wife Peggy and brother Wesley C Fisher and his wife Brandy.  Niece Savana Tate Fisher Espada, husband Kevin, and their children Charolette Elizabeth, 6, and Gabriel Charles, 4.

The funeral will be held Saturday, February 24 at 11:00am, with family receiving friends beginning at 10:00am at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home, 4001 Sebring Parkway, Sebring. The interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens, 854 S. Memorial Dr, Avon Park.  In lieu of flowers please donate to the ASL Association or Hospice.  The family can’t thank enough those that helped Pete and Vitas Hospice.  God Bless you all!

Not sure what to say?

Rest in peace old old friend I’m glad to have known you. It’s been years since I saw you again. You were one of the most honest and caring people I met after Vietnam. We did some hunting and fishing in Iowa.

May the love of friends and family carry you through your grief. Pete is that special person you will never forget. Most Sincerely Linda Kelly

Pete is one of my oldest and best friends. We played football together, and worked together on ranches and farms. In high school, we dated our sweethearts together, and ultimately shared the heartaches of losing our first "puppy loves". He was tough and persistent in all that he did. Even though I didn't get to see him much since moving from Highlands County, when we did get together, our friendship was always strong. I always knew Pete had my back. The bond we had in our high school and...
