On November 5, 2012, Dr. Peter D. T. Ngo found his way to our Blessed Lord, surrounded by his loving and devoted family. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Cecilia; his five children, John, Paul, Theresa, Frank and Claire; their respective spouses Joan, Stephanie, Paul, Esther and Ashwin; and 8 beautiful grandchildren, Sarah, Christopher, Nicholas, Caroline, Alexander, Elisabeth, Charlotte, and Timothy, who brought him so much pride and happiness. Peter received a doctorate in Electrical Engineering and served over 20 years as a research scientist at AT&T Bell Laboratories. He received 35 granted patents and authored 40 papers. Peter was responsible for a key invention, the Light Pen for Interactive Plasma Displays, which could be used to transmit handwriting instantaneously over phone lines. His invention received recognition in the New York Times Science section, Science and Future Handbook of the Encyclopedia Britannica, and Who's Who in the Frontier of Science and Technology. Peter was a Senior Member of IEEE, bestowed the Distinguished Member Technical Staff Award at Bell Labs, and elected as a Fellow of the Society of Information Display. Upon retirement, Peter channeled his energy into investing, applying a model that he created based on particle physics. There will be visitation at Toale Brothers Funeral Home's Gulf Gate Chapel, 6903 S. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, on Friday Nov. 9th from 6 PM-7 PM. The funeral mass will take place at St. Thomas More Church, 2506 Gulf Gate Dr on Saturday Nov 10th at 11 AM, followed by the burial at Sarasota Memorial Park, 5833 S. Tamiami Trail.
