I'm now a 70-year-old man but still have fond memories of Peter from 57 years ago when I, and my friends, precocious 7th graders at the Belmont Junior High, had him as our science teacher trying to figure out why, when we poured different liquids from a beaker, the fluid stream would break apart at different heights. That summer I traveled with Peter, his guitar, and several other kids up the Gaspe Peninsula to Bonaventure Island and Perce Rock to camp for awhile, visit the bird sanctuary,...

I met Peter in Antarctica when he guided a Mountain Travel trip in 1997! A wonderful guy, warm & personable, really made the trip truly memorable! It was a real pleasure knowing Peter & I was very happy to later meet up with him again at his house here in northern CA along with my wife Cathy Ann!

Just discovered this after my wife and I talked about our trip to Tanzania with Peter and Mountain Travel back in the 1980's. What a wonderful guy. He did so much to introduce a couple of youngsters to the world of adventure travel. I recall him saying that he would like to camp alone on the Serengeti. After seeing so many lions, etc, I can't say that we shared his enthusiasm. But certainly admired him for it ;+}. Tom and Lisa

Enjoyed meeting Peter "many" years ago (1998) while thinking about the potential for 'ecotourism' in sonoma county. He became interested in LandPaths' work early on and encouraged me on various fronts. A lovely human being and a fine naturalist. RIP Peter

Much too late to be read at all, but I have to say a brief thanks to Peter's memory, I roomed at Eliot House in 1960-61 with his friends Johnny Boyd and Jonathan Roosevelt, and we were soon joined by Peter's raccoon. It nipped but never injured us, and Peter was one of the dearest sweetest people I have ever known.
