Dear Alice and the rest of the Patterson family,

My hearfelt condolences for your loss. I had the privilege to work for and with Pete on the SCS/NRCS Watershed Planning Staff in Portland. He was a great boss and colleague. My heart goes out to you in your time of mourning.

Alice, you and Pete were an exceptional couple who offered so much to all your friends and the community. It was a true privilege to know him, travel with you and him and enjoy his friendship. He was an outstanding Naval Officer and Forest Service pro. Our love, Betty and Zane

Dear Alice and Leslie, Pete was a dear man whose presence was always one of caring and his smile brightened my day at the Y. I'm sorry to lose such a good man and am thinking of him and of both of you. How fortunate to have known such a nice guy. Thanks for sharing him. Love, Helen Lyons

Dear Alice and family, I was shocked to see Pete's obituary in the Oregonian I had recently seen him down town going to a movie.

Dear Pattersons,
It has been an honor and pleasure to work with Pete aboard the steamer Portland. There was no task or assignment that he would not embrace. His work ethic, integrity and leadership qualities were an inspiration to me and many others. His grace and dignity these last few months moved me. Pete was my friend and I will always look up to him for the positive influence he has had on my life. Pete truly was one of the good ones. He will be missed.
My sincere...

Dear Patterson Family: I send my most sincere sympathy to you all. Pete was such a good friend and an all around good guy. I knew him as a volunteer on the Steamboat PORTLAND. He will be greatly missed.
