In memoriam Peter Poy: his story, as written by Susan Zou (I just heard belatedly about Peter´s passing) Old Chinese New Zealander Peter Poy By Susan Zou Published on 26 January 2018 in Chinese in Home Voice, the Chinese newspaper in Wellington Region. Mr. Peter Poy is an old Chinese New Zealander whom I recently met. I got to know him through three people. In order to let more people understand the history of Chinese in New Zealand, I made the "Stories of Chinese New Zealanders"...

Dear Aimee I am so sorry to hear the sorrowful news and greatly saddened for the loss of your dearly loved husband. I met Peter in 2017 at his home for interview you for the "Stories of Chinese New Zealanders" Wellington Access Radio programme. Peter very kindly made a cup of coffee for me by their new coffee machine. He told me about his family´s history while showing me his family historical documents and photos, including the copy of the certificates of his father having paid 100 pounds...

Rather belated sorry but condolences to all the family. Sad to hear of his passing - I remember Peter well from the market days and concur with previous comments. A very calm and friendly man always. Just a really good guy. Ran a very high standard of business in the city - fruit & veges and food too as I recall. I can still see his smile very clearly, you'd be very hard pushed to find anything to dislike about the man. I hope the family are coping ok - losing someone takes quite some...

My deepest sympathy to you all. I hope Mum and Dad were there to meet him. God bless,

My deepest sympathy to the Poy family. Peter was well respected in the fruit and vegetable industry. Very knowledgeable and contributor. A wonderful friend and member of our monthly dinner meeting group. Peter......you will be greatly missed. We didn't have time to say goodbye. Rest in peace, until we meet again.
