Life in Perspective
The day after Thanksgiving, Peter F. Raimondi would always put up the family's Christmas tree, and by the weekend he had turned his attention to his mother.
"Mama, put the hot chocolate on and play the Christmas music," said his mother, Candida Raimondi, recalling his words. "He was always trying to make life special for everyone."
Whether it was his open-door policy as first vice president of Carr Futures on the 92nd floor of 1 World Trade Center, games of basketball and chess with his sons or home decorating with his wife, "Everybody was a priority to him," said his wife, Lenore. The 46-year-old father of two didn't just take the family on vacation, she said. He would do exhaustive research for the trip and serve as tour guide.
Above all, he believed in taking life in stride, and he made a plaque for the refrigerator with this motto: "It Doesn't Really Matter." When last heard from, he was stuck in a trade center elevator. "Anytime I worry about anything now, I look at the refrigerator," his wife said. "That's helped get me through."
Profile published in THE NEW YORK TIMES on December 6, 2001.
PETER F. RAIMONDI, 46, of New York, a vice president for Carr Futures, was an avid reader who "always had advice, and it was always right," according to his family. "No one question was too hard for him to answer," said his 12-year-old son, Peter. It was a trait his colleagues noticed, too. His wife, Lenore, said a former co-worker called to say he will work on a task a certain way, then realize it's the way Raimondi taught him to do it years ago.

To the RAIMONDI family, my boys were 11 and 8 at the time as we stared at the TV news totally stunned and in shock at what happened that day. 15 years have now gone by and your memory will live on forever at every memorial event throughout the United States on PATRIOT DAY ! May GOD bless your 2 boys Phillip and Peter, you Peter, will always be in their hearts and souls. I was 38 at the time. In memorium for Peter F. Raimondi. I always think of you during this sad time of September 11...

St Louis had a beautiful memorial for 9/11 on the 10th anniversary with an American flag for each victim. I bought the flag with Peter's name on it. I am very proud to fly that flag at my home and tell my family and friends that it is a 9/11 flag so that nobody ever forgets. Know that I pray for Peter and his family. Peace----

My heart goes out to Peter's family. I am honored to be reading his name this year at the 10th anniversary ceremony at ground zero. My thoughts are with his family during this difficult time.

I went to High School with Peter. We were in one or more classes together. We didn't hang out, but we were friendly in school. I just this minute found out that he'd perished at the WTC on 9/11, and I am very sorry to hear that. I only have fond memories of him. - Jay Wiener

I'm not exactly sure what to wright... But, I feel compelled to send out something from my heart to you. I picked Peter's name randomly. I just want to let you, his family & friends, know that my love goes out to you. I am 31 yrs old and I'm sitting here watching, for the first time in 10 yrs, the horrific events that fell upon us that September 11th. You see, I have not been able to watch anything related until now and I'm not really sure that I am "able" to watch now... But I do and I will....

Haven't seen my cousin Peter since we were very small children. Too typical for Italian families that don't talk for decades and us cousins don't even know (or care) why. We just know that we should have been together more often. Peter's Dad and My Dad were brothers. Peter, (and his borther Anthony) & I are 1st Cousins. My deepest sympathy even though many years parted us. I am Rosario's son Rosario (or Uncle Sam's son Junior as I was called). I don't even know how to contact you but...
