Dear Doris, John and the Reimann Family:
My image of Peter was of the complete Renaissance Man: he loved art, literature, language, learning and sharing those loves with others. He loved lively discussion and debate and
had the wit, the charm, the intelligence and the humour to engage virtually everyone he met in both. Most of all, though, he loved and took tremendous pride in his family, you, Doris, and in you, John, "his boy".
Yes, he would have a delighted twinkle in his eye...


Peter was a great friend throughout my school days in Outremont. His love of poetry and literature inspired me, as did his fiery wit and Reimannesque view on life. A refugee from Communist oppression, he was passionate about his adopted country while retaining a strong sense of his heritage (he taught me to curse in Hungarian). The world is a poorer place today. I will miss Peter more than I can say.

Peter was a unique soul: a rugged individualist; a keen but empathetic observer of the human comedy; a perspicacious social critic who never bought into party lines; an intellectual maverick who could tell the wheat from the chaff, and ordered his life accordingly; an anti-snob who was nonetheless a connoisseur of beauty in crafts, art, ideas, and nature; a master of conversation and consummate host; a great wit and inveterate kibbitzer; a gentle advisor to those who sought his counsel, and...

Dear Mrs. Reimann,
Please accept my sincere condoleances for the loss of your husband. Peter was my childhood friend. We went to the same elementary and high school together. I remember our many walks together along MacEachren Street.Peter was brilliant and gifted.Although I left Montreal many decades ago and have not seen him, I recently learnt from a mutual friend that he had been ill.I am so greatly saddened by this news. My old friend, Peter Reimann, will never be forgotten.
