Not sure what to say?

I met Father Rogers when I was a freshman at Loyola University in the mid 80's. He was "trying" to teach me French...haha, what a challenge. He showed an interest in learning about my Greek heritage and we became good friends afterwards. Years later, after I had moved to Biloxi MS, I was honored to have him sit in for my 2nd child's Baptism at the local Greek church. I just found out today that he had passed and am now wishing I had tried to contact him sooner. He was a gentle and generous...

I have just learned (14th April 2023) of Peter's death. He had taken the time in September 2019 to show me, a complete stranger from Ireland, around New Orleans when I was on a Lafcadio Hearn-related literary research trip to the city from University College Dublin, where I work in French Studies. His generosity of spirit meant an enormous amount to me. I am back in New Orleans for a few days and wanted to renew contact with Peter, having last corresponded with him in 2020 about the Covid...

We love and will miss you so much, Uncle Peter. You often gave us the most wonderful insight on the light of God. We know that you are no longer suffering, but are peacefully watching down over us.

Rest in peace. Thank you for your insight, I will miss you.

Remembering Father Peter in my prayers and at the altar. I trust he's found rest 'where the light of God's face shines' -- and REALLY understands Proust and Flaubert now. He was a great friend, mentor & hero in the faith

Fr. Rogers, Peter, exemplified the Christian faith. He was always kind thoughtful, and humble. He often used examples from French literature in his sermons, and he was also interested in French philosophy. We learned so much from him. But above all, he showed kindness to everyone he encountered, from his many students over the years and his faculty colleagues to the members of the Loyola 10:30 community where he often said Mass.

"Well Done" Good Padre!

We will miss you my friend!

I was so sorry to learn of Father Rogers' death. I always enjoyed attending the weekly French Mass he held at Loyola. He was an outstanding scholar and a joyful presence who will be missed by all who knew him.
