Hawthorne Funeral Home - Mount Vernon Obituary

“You are my sunshine, my only sunshine, you make me happy when the skies are gray.”

Peter would always sing this to me.  Singing, one of the things we love doing together, aside from dancing.

Peter Shane Cox Rosenstein was born in Yakima, Washington on January 14, 1948.  Both his parents are deceased Stanislaus Buster Rosenstein, Sr, Virginia Cox Rosenstein (2001).  He was precdeded in Death by older brother Stanley Bussy Resenstein (2013).  Peter and Stan were fluent with American Sign Language as both their parents were deaf.

Peter Graduated from A.C. Davis High School in Yakima and got his AA from Yakima Valley College.  Earlier in his life he worked in various Engineering companies all over Washington as a surveyor and planner.  Growing up, he lived in different cities in WA, Mabton, Dashpoint, Walla-Walla, Bellingham, Burlington and finally settled in Mount Vernon in 1997.  He worked with the Housing Authority of Skagit County for 23 years as all around maintenance guy till he retired in 2015.

Retiring did not slow down Peter, in fact he was more busy, financial secretary of the Knights of Columbus (Boulet 2126), was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church liturgy committee and building committee, aside from doing a lot of volunteer work at the church, pregnancy choices, food bank, bloodworks and the fil-am organization.

In his younger days Peter was a Thespian and was very active with different Theater Arts groups, The Yakima community Theater, Walla-Walla community Theater, Sedro Woolley, Anacortes and Skagit community Theaters.  He was an actor, stage manager, producer and director of several plays.

Peter travelled to Manila, Philippines in September 2002 to meet his wife of 18 years, Rebecca.  They got married on November 16, 2003.  He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Jamco Rosenstein, children Nicolas Guillen Rosenstein (and partner Analiese Brock) of Bellingham, WA, Joanna Jamco Eguita and Jefferson Eguita of Ferndale, WA and Anjeda Nicole Jamco of Manila, Philippines.  He will be missed by other children Macario and Lorraine Torres of Edmonds, WA, Joaquin and Janice Torres of West Seattle, WA. Several Grandchildren, Lorenzo Rosenstein, Miette Rosenstein, Amanda Lohman, Sarah Filley, Alyssa Rosenstein and Aiden Rosenstein, Ciara, Conor and Cian Torres, Parker and Ellen Torres, Nieces Michelle Rosenstein Filley of Tampa, FL, Rachel Jenkins of Mount Vernon, Jennifer Willet and Husband Richard of Bellingham, WA and nephew Paul Rosenstein (Anne E. Rosenstein).  Plus a lot of extended family in Manila, Philippines who call him Daddy Pete.

We will miss you. Heaven gained another Angel !!

A rosary will be held Wednesday, February 16th, 2022, 12:15pm followed by a funeral mass, 1:00pm at Immaculate Conception Church in Mount Vernon.  A graveside service will follow at Hawthorne Memorial Park in Mount Vernon.

Not sure what to say?

I met Peter in 1998, he was a wonderful, sweet person. So sorry to hear of his passing.

Peter will be missed. He has done so much for the church and the Knights.

Peter was a thoughtful but busy fellow, not loud or boastful about his many accomplishments; just a very nice man. He was a Knight of Columbus. I believe he went straight to heaven.
