Pete was a very admired friend and fellow musician in the La Canada schools. I was sad when he moved away and very saddened to learn of his passing, only today. A very gentle and caring soul--please accept my belated but heart-felt condolences.

Mr. Roth will be greatly missed! He taught me and many of my fellow classmates toe love of folk music at Stayton Middle School. It broke my heart when I heard he passed away!

It was a wonderful celebration of Pete's life and spirit last Saturday--an amazing gathering of people with whom Pete shared his life and his gift of music.
I will always remember first meeting him at the Haystack Songwriting Workshop at Cannon Beach in 1979. That meeting led us to an incredible musical collaboration partnership. We co-authored a boxcar full of music and lyrics for individual songs, for the musical "Halfway Home," and for Pete's Christmas musical adpatation of "The...

Pete and I were at Willamette together. I rember fondly the serenades when the Kappa Sigs came. They were always
Good. After graduation I stayed in Salem and Pete and I maintained a friendship that was just that.
He would sometimes call just to talk about world affairs. I remember when he worked at the pizza parlor so he could play the piano after hours.
Sometimes we went fishing up the canyon. Pete also drove me out to the farm house area of Marion county for Stan...

Who could forget El Don Gato or Big Blue... You saved me from boredom and encouraged me to express my creativity. You taught us all how to take learning and growing seriously but not to take ourselves too seriously. You taught us to appreciate and respect each other's individuality - as well as to love music! I have taught many of those fun and silly songs to my son and I am sure he will share them with his children someday. The Nash girls will ALL ALWAYS remember you fondly and your legacy...

Thank you so much for leaving messages on the guest book. You were all very important to him and you would be surprised at the little mementos he kept to remind him of you.

Mr Roth was a wonderful teacher. After 30 years there are so many songs learned in his class that are still in my memories. Thank you to the man who made music fun and kept my mind opened to many genres of music, not just mainstream. I truely wished my own children could have had the experience of Mr Roth playing the guitar or piano whole heartily to whatever song was being shared that day. My personal favorites were Senor Don Gato and Muleskinner.

Pete entertained my family after our wedding with his music. His original version of how St. Pat drove the snakes from Ireland was one of the highlights...my siblings still talk about it. Pete, we will miss your gift of music and humor.
