Pete Rust was a stand up guy and a real gentleman. Pete and wife Harriet were Diplomats of Tourism and held down the Wednesday shift on the counter from 9:00am until 1:00pm at the Polk County Visitor Information Center located in Davenport. Sitting next to Pete; while watching Harriet work the room, I could readily observe the excellent customer service skills these two possessed. On Friday morning one of the volunteers at the VIC called to tell me of Pete's passing. Such a wave of sadness...

I met Mr. Rust in the GTE years. Mike and I would drop by his home and talk about yard work and joke about so many things. A kind man..as kind as a Marine sarg could be.
