Rivet Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc. - Merrimack Obituary

Peter Haven Savoie, 53, of Merrimack NH, and former longtime resident of Grass Lake, MI passed away on Thursday, September 11th, 2025 at Mount Carmel Rehab and Nursing Home in Manchester, NH after a hard-fought battle with cancer.

He was born in Nashua, NH on September 5th, 1972 to Paul and Jacqueline (Mills) Savoie. He was a graduate of Toland High School and attended classes at The Boston Conservatory where he studied classical guitar.

Pete worked as a builder for Great Lakes Yurt Company in Grass Lake MI for many years. He was an avid nature lover who spent most of his time outdoors foraging in the woods, fishing, and tending to his farm. His passion for helping others was unmatched and he contributed countless hours to feeding the less advantaged people in his community. A deeply spiritual person, Peter also helped many people heal from trauma and was always willing to be a source of support and inspiration for anyone in need. He was an incredibly talented musician and artist who had a deep love for the finer things in life especially good food. Above all Peter was a truly dedicated and loving father, a fierce friend, and a constant light for everyone who knew him.

He will be forever loved and remembered by his wife Bridget Von Markgraf; his children, Lyle Savoie, Max Von Markgraf and Zoe Von Markgraf; two siblings, Mary and her husband Michael White and Keith Savoie and his wife Abby along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In accordance with his wishes, there will be no services. There will be a Celebration Of Life at a later date after his family has had time to process his loss.

For those who would like to make a memorial contribution in Pete’s memory, you may do so to either the Dungytreei Heritage Foundation, 801 S Mechanic St, Jackson, MI 49203 or the NH Food Bank, 700 E Industrial Park Dr, Manchester, NH 03109 (nhfoodbank.org)

He was such a lovely man. I will never forget how gracious he was to me. He was brave and kind and good. I would have liked to have known him much longer.

I met Peter through our mutual friend Daniel Kidder-McQuown. I have been a volunteer with Dungytreei Heritage Foundation, and I can’t begin to tell you how much we appreciated Peter’s dedication and spirit. I regret not knowing him better, not having opportunities to learn from his vast store of knowledge. I pray that God will fill your hearts with comfort. Love never dies. His best gifts will always be with you. Relationships are forever. Peace to you.
