Not sure what to say?

I worked for Peter at Marco Seattle from
Dec. 1973 to August 1980 in Peter's oil
skimming boat and oil industry equipment
division. My office was close to Peter's
and fondly remember after hours conversations with Peter. Peter was a
naval architect and marine engineer from
Michigan State. Peter was always fair with
his employees and gave a valuable kick start to many careers. Peter had foreign
operations Bilbao, Spain; Callao, Peru and
a large shipyard in...

Peter and Elva (July 2002)

Peter was a dear friend, a valued mentor, and one of the greatest men I've ever known. I enjoyed his company and his anecdotes, and I've tried to heed his life lessons, such as "Persistence is the key to success," "A person with a clean office has too much time on his hands," and "Don't leave gin bottles laying around on the floor." (The last life lesson was from when I was in college in the early '90s....)

I will miss him, and my wife Christine and I send our condolences to the...

Hans, the Joe Williams family was saddened by the death and loss of your Dad. We have wonderful memories of him and your Mom, Elva. We shared many times with him in the Cal 40s group and the Seattle Yacht Club. He will be remembered by many and sorely missed.

Carol Williams Rogers

Jill, Hans, Mimi and Janet. Peter and Elva were a class act together. They became a role model for Kappy and I soon after moving to Seattle in 1967. Their devotion to family, their values and leadership in all their endeavors and their many miles sailing together were and continue to be an inspiration.
Having raced against Peter for all those years, enjoying his competitive nature along with his skill on the race course conjure many fond memories of the good times we had on and off the...

My condolences to Jill, Hans, Mimi, Janet and all family members.

I will always treasure my memories of your dad and your mom. They were both very special people and a pleasure to be around. Your dad exemplified the "never give up" motto, especially later in life.
May he rest in peace.

Xaipe, Peter Gustav Schmidt

Peter Schmidt was a beloved alumnus and leader of the Alpha Delta Phi Fraternity at the University of Washington. Despite his family commitments, his considerable business-related responsibilities, and his various extra-curricular passions (e.g., sailing), Peter also always somehow made time for us, as well. We are grateful for that, and we are all better men because of that.

We are also grateful to Peter's family for patiently and generously sharing Peter with us, and we wish them...

I worked for Marco for a few recent years, and only met Pete a few times. I remember him for two things: The Statement of Business Principles that he said came down through the family for generations, and is very good.
I found Marco to be an excellent place to work and, to hear the long time people talk, it was largely because of Pete. His insistence on quality was legendary among his employees, as was his loyalty to them. I remain forever grateful for the experience.
