Not sure what to say?

Ah, about Peter, so much was learned watching him take care of others...the line i read in the announcement about his asking whom he could help, just the day before he passed away, will always stay with me.Pat sure loved her Wisconsin Farm Boy.. and would call him that to me often, especially if i had heavy suitcases.. I met them when pats memoir was described in the papers as Vietnam War protesting students of Pacific School of Religion and she being from a tenement in St Louis.. where i...

I chose "family" as a sister in Christ, even though I don't remember meeting Peter or Pat. I attended Wesley UMC from 1986-1994, and lived in the Thompson house one semester. I heard other members speaking lovingly of Peter and Pat often. Wesley held me, and helped me hold on tight to my faith, even as it was being challenged at Hampshire College. Wesley helped to confirm that the aspects of the Christian Church that Hampshire people critiqued so strongly was only part of what the church...

My wife and I moved into 77 McClellan as full-time caretakers for Peter and Pat for their last few months in their beloved family home. Peter was such a lovely man, never angry, never mean, never letting his dementia prevent him from his walks, playing his clarinet, reading his newspapers or living his life with such grace as remained to him. To my regret, I only knew him for a handful of months, but both Amanda and myself are better for the experience.

I remember Pete when I was in the Methodist Youth Fellowship in the 1950s. I looked up to Pete as a role model, as he was the President of our Conference youth. I also remember Pat, his wife, who was a PSR classmate and the writer for a reader's theater piece based on Peter the Apostle. I was honored to help perform it at our Cal-Nev Annual Conference session. "I saw Him standing by the shore as evening fell... when we were too wearied to be feasting and too poor."

Living Spirit Dishgarden

I loved writing with Peter and Pat--used to drive out all the way from Concord on Thursday nights to be there. When I was there for more extended workshops, Peter could always be counted on to provide a lovely breakfast. His memories of childhood were special to me, since I also have Wisconsin roots. I cherish my copy of his book. His words and deeds live on in those of us who knew him.

What a great man... Ah Peter, I enjoyed writing with you and Pat so much. Wherever you are, you will bring peace and calm and good will. I miss you and will think of you often!

So sorry for your loss, they were always wonderful loving people. I have memories as a kid going to there house and doing some writing workshop. I would have never experienced summer camp if it wasn't for them and they helped out alot! I will miss them always loves and prayers!

I am do sorry for your loss. Peter and I attended the same writing workshop for a couple of years and his writing always made us smile and took me back to my Midwestern roots. Both your parents were inspiring and memorable people. I am grateful for having known them both.
