Today, we received a snail mail note from Joan about Pete's passing last year. What a shock to receive this sad news. Pete and I had sailed and traveled together for over 35 years. So many places and so many stories! All sailors loved his cheerfulness and how nothing was ever a problem too big to not solve. On Wednesday (May 18, 2021) afternoon, I checked my snail mailbox in Deerfield Beach for the last time this season. There were only three items, and one of them conveyed sad news. A good sailing and flying buddy passed last October unbeknownst to me.

I met Pete through the Washington Ski Club sailing program back in the 1980s. I sailed countless times with him and a jolly crew on the Chesapeake Bay. My photographs from those excursions made the cover of the slick monthly Ski...

Peter was one of the brightest people I ever met.He was a great listener and equally a wonderful intellect.We shall miss him forever.

Sad news indeed, he has led and participated in MANY GREAT SAILS for our club and others and his STAR shined oh so bright... He was on two of the GREATEST ADVENTURES I've sailed on - to French Polynesia and the Florida Keys. He was responsible for teaching advanced ASA classes and my getting the International Sailing Certificate. I've enjoyed every sail with him and will not forget his teachings.
