Peter Testa Obituary

Peter Testa Resident of San Leandro As Memorial Day, May 25th 2009 was coming to an end, in the presence of Lina his loving wife of sixty years, Peter sat at his kitchen table in their San Leandro home and put his head down. As a proud US Navy veteran who served in the Pacific in WWII, this was a graceful end to a full and abundant life. Peter's life was rich with the love of his family. Born in San Francisco July 9th 1925 to Giacomo and Fanny Testa. His roots in the San Leandro community Peter attended Lincoln elementary and San Leandro H.S.. After serving his country with honor, he returned to marry his beloved Lina Cresci. Their family grew with their son Nicholas Testa of Pleasanton, daughter Valerie Stewart of Angwin and son Ronald Testa of Moraga. Peter received great joy from his eight grandchildren Jimmy, Scott, Christopher, Matthew, Kendall, Sonja, and Ava, who will all miss him immeasurably. Peter's passing is a sadness to his sister Gloria Morlini of Sunnyvale as well as his nephew Tom Morlini and niece Elaine Prevost. A man of strong work ethic, Peter retired from the Oakland Scavenger Co. after 43 years. He was a long-standing member of the Alpicella Italian Club. Peter's many friends and family will remember the summers shared with Peter and Lina at their home in Tahoe as well as their winters shared at their Palm Springs home. Peter enjoyed traveling, playing golf, watching sports with his children and cartoons with his grandchildren. Vigil services will be Sunday June 7, 2009 2:00pm at Guerrero Mortuary, San Leandro. Peter will be buried with military honors Monday June 8th at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery Dixon. In lieu of flowers a donation to charity may be made.

My deepest sympathies to the Testa Family. I had an opportunity to meet Peter, who was visiting a family function. He left a lasting impression on me because of his friendly, energetic demeanor. I only wish that I had an opportunity to know him better. Ron, Karin, Sonja and Ava, my condolences to you. May Peter's memory live on in your legacy!

i had the priviledge of meeting Peter once. He is a man i will not forget. even in his weak state he had the tenacity to get better and put forth all his effort in doing so. It is that determination and zest for life that i will remember. thank you, Peter. Rest in Peace.

My deepest condolences to the entire Testa family. I only knew Pete through golf trips to Tahoe. His spirit clearly lives on through his sons who love to laugh and enjoy family and friends.

Nonno, thanks for all the fun summers catching crawdads at the lake and snowball fights during winter in tahoe. I will always remember to keep my head down when i golf and to wear socks on chilly mornings. You will be missed. Love Christopher.

I've known Nick for 40 years and could fill up a trunk with anecdotes. He and Julie have invited me ( and after I married and became a father) and my family to their house many times and I was privileged to enjoy the passion, humor and good cheer that Pete Testa dispensed liberally at those gatherings, on the golf course, and during after-golf festivities. My wife Lori and daughter Maddy join me in conveying to Lina and the Testa family our love and sympathy. We know that you will miss Pete terribly. You and he are in our thoughts and prayers.
