I was acquainted with Peter Tierney at FDU. It was there that I realized that Pete was a real class act; not only a tenacious basketball player. Everyone at the old Rutherford campus of FDU respected and liked Pete. He was definitely a special person to us all. I will miss my dear friend.

I am very sorry to hear of Mr. Tierney's passing. He was my teacher for two classes and my tennis coach. I learned much from his upbeat, patient nature and wish I had made more of an effort to keep in touch with him. My best wishes to his family. Brian Graff Summit High Class of 91.

A teach, coach, mentor, father figure. Mr. Teirney (Coach) was a man of too many talents. His abilities in and out of the classroom knew no limits. There wasn't a student that he didn't come into contact with that didn't have their lives changed in some way. I, like many others, were honored to have had such a man influence us. Through US History, US Law, and sports, he taught us, he nurtured us, he guided us, as if we were his own children.
He gave everything he could to what he...

Mariann, may the love you and Pete shared over the past 30 years and the memories you created sustain you until you are together again.
Katie, Allie & Laura: I first met your Dad on the school bus in the very early days of Union Catholic opening their doors in Sept 1962. I knew he was a special guy when he got up and offered me his seat.
I pass along a quote I read when I was grieving for a loved one. I hope it offers you the same peace it has given me. "We never lose our loved...

I was a troubled and sad youth in 1986 when I met Mr. Tierney. He was my history teacher and I have thought about him fondly over the years. He called me smiles because I never did. I had problems with my peers and he let me hide out and eat lunch in his class. He gave me what I needed most at that time of my life and that was acceptance. Words could never describe what you meant to me Mr. Tierney. Rest in Peace. You are forever alive in the hearts and minds of those you touched.
