I grew up on Clifton Avenue and was friends with his two sons, Pete and Ralph. Mr. Velardi was a very nice guy and my Dad knew him his whole life. My Dad always said that he was a very good baseball player when he was younger and they played against each other. Mr. Velardi played for Barringer and my Dad went to Central. My Dad passed a couple of years after Mr. Velardi and I am sure that his family misses him as much as miss my Dad. They were both decent hard working men who would do...

I just found out and was very sorry to hear about Mr. Velardi. I grew up on Clifton Avenue in Newark with Pete, Pia
and Ralph. He was a very nice guy. My Dad
who is the same age knew him very well as they played baseball together when they were kids. He also would like to say how sorry he was to hear the news.
