Not sure what to say?

I'm sorry not to have been able to attend the memorial service today.
I remember Peter being a wonderful raconteur, and as a youngster being inspired by his linguistic talents and crossword speed. I have fond memories of a trip to the Library at Sandhurst where he was scurrying through archives and old Russian encyclopaedias with infectious enthusiasm.

I have a very fond memory of Peter showing us around Sandhurst then taking our whole family out for an amazing lunch at a local restaurant! Peter was a very friendly and kind man and that is how I shall always remember him.

Cousin Peter, an erudite, hospitable, oenologist, bon viveur and good cook and husband to Marion the God Mother of one of our daughters. He was a man of irrepressible enthusiasms especially when burrowing into his stacks of old Pravdas at Sandhurst. Some of his family suspected him to be a Secret Agent controlled by his Dog, for the dog certainly ruled Peter's household. Possibly above all else he would wish to be remembered for his feet of which he was inexplicably proud. He will be sorely...

I am sorry not to be able to attend Peter's funeral, but will be thinking of him along with other family on the day. I will always remember his earnest encouragement when I began to study Russian at school 25 or so years ago, and regret my immaturity in appreciating what a knowledgeable cousin I had at the time.
