Obituary

Peter Wang died February 14, 2018 in the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland, Florida. He was 15.

Peter was in the school's ROTC program, and the Miami Herald wrote that he was last seen in uniform holding the door so other students could escape.

His friend, Gabriel Ammirata, described Peter as, "funny, nice and a great friend. He's been my best friend since third grade."

The Sun-Sentinel quoted his cousin Lin Chen: "He is so brave. He is the person who is genuinely kind to everyone. He doesn't care about popularity. He always liked to cheer people up. He is like the big brother everyone wished they had."

Legacy mourns all those who died at Stoneman Douglas.

Not sure what to say?

Dear Wang Family, My name is Carmen, I am an 8th-grade student at San Roberto International School. Recently, in our history class we have been studying current events, and we want to understand more about gun laws and safety. We are interested in learning how communities are affected by these laws and help prevent danger; we are deeply sorry for the loss of Peter Wang, He most definitely was a hero, if possible we could you share more information about this event with us. We understand...

As a JROTC commander in the next county over, I can't even imagine what it would feel like to lose a cadet like Peter. This is the kind of kid they make movies about. At our school, we held a memorial service to honor those who died with you. Your memory will stay with us and inspire us through marksmanship competitions, inspections, raider practices, and daily life. Thank you for upholding that creed we all make fun of- you truly did exemplify those values.

My heart goes out to you and you and your family. I can only imagine what you all are going through. From everything I have read Peter was such a good young man and I know you are proud of him. Keep in mind the good memories and if you read the Bible rely on what it says to strengthen you though such a challenging time and the hope it gives us for ones we have lost. Keeping all of the families in prayer.

Peter Wang was a hero. Nothing less than such. He was only a kid, and yet he already knew how to be a man. He laid his life down so that other kids could go home to their families. He didn't abandon his post until the very end. That's the American military way. I wish to have such a positive affect on others' lives like Peter. As someone who wants to serve, I wish I could have met Peter. From what I have seen and read, he was a good kid with a pure heart. It's hard to see such a good person...

To the family,
My heartfelt condolences in the passing of Peter. His sacrificing of his life to save others will not go unnoticed by God. "For God is not unrighteous so as to forget your work and the love you showed..." (Hebrews 6:10) Peter and his fellow classmates will receive life in paradise. (Luke 23:43)

I am sorry to have to write condolences for such a young person. He apparently gave so much of himself for his classmates. This is a testimony to his parents. What a fine job they did in loving him and preparing him for life. May our father remember him and listen to the prayers of the family. He will help you through.
