Peter WARD

Through my piano lessons with Jane (so cheerful and patient with a very late beginner), I met Peter, and later Tim, Wendy and Mark. From our time in Ottawa, we have fond memories of a hearty welcome, a good story from a well travelled man with many rich experiences, and an occasional glass of wine before my lesson `just to know what you think of this wine that I have on my tasting homework tonight´. I remember Peter well from the National Press Club in the 80s where it seemed everyone in the media in Ottawa went for a beer or lunch, or both. Arthur ruled the office and famous chef Peter the kitchen and we all had lots of laughs. Different times definitely and I enjoyed my many chats with Peter at the bar. Regards to the family.

I remember Peter as a kind, energetic soul: He was a Southam fellow along with my then-husband, also Peter, in the late '60s. The fellowship offered a year at U of T and was primarily aimed at those journalists who had not attended university. It was a magical year. It was Peter who introduced us to the joys of buying a gallon bottle of inexpensive French wine at a Quebec liquor store. Cheers! Sympathy to the Ward family.
