Not sure what to say?

Like many friends of Phil, I got to know him through Scouts. Phil was a great leader and friend, never putting himself above anyone else.

Bill Pschigoda, T623 St Joe, MI

I was so sorry to hear of Phil's passing. I know that he will be missed by many in Kalamazoo. Phil and Karen have always been a wonderful support and good friends. Much love to the Bowmans-- you are all in my thoughts.

Phil was a great guy. He offered us so much support behind the scenes and in daily lab work. Always a good attitude and realistic about "things that happen". He told me long ago..."when you teach you learn twice..." and he was so right. He taught us well.

I am so sorry to hear of Phil's passing. He was a good friend at Pfizer, and we had lots of great conversations about backcountry adventures, Westwood U. Meth. church (I'm also a United Methodist), as well as science and pharmaceutical development. He was a wonderful asset to the area.

Phil will be greatly missed. He was a competent and capable Scouter among the best. His leadership, care, and concern for the youth of our area were hallmarks throughout our Southwest Michigan Council and Area 2. He was a spirit filled Christian and dear friend. May God continue to bless and keep his family!

I first met Phil when he came to the Gerald R. Ford Council of the BSA to promote the NYLT program to our Training Team. Phil's dedication to the Scouting program and it's ideals were evident in his everpresent desire to see that everyone he came in contact with shared his level of enthusiasm for it. The youth leadership of today has lost an exceptional mentor and he will be sorely missed by all of us.

As a rookie scientist in 1976 at the then Upjohn Co. Control Laboratories, I was always grateful for the guidance and help received from Phil. And that would continue for years after that too. Ever willing to give of his time and share his extensive knowledge, he served up both with his infectious good cheer and huge smile. Thanks again Phil, and God bless you!

I knew Phil through many years of Scouting. He was as easy-going as a person could be, always Cheerful and Friendly (two of the 12 characteristics which define a good Scout). Sometimes we worked as equals on training staffs; other times he was trainer, I was the trainee. I could always learn from Phil, as he was most Helpful with his time and talents. I will dearly miss him. The Scout Law: A Scout is Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave,...

I worked with Phil at The Upjohn Company for several years. We enjoyed working on projects and attended a few mass spec meetings together. Our time together was made special by Phil's positive attitude.
