Not sure what to say?

Louise,

When I found out ... I don't think I have to tell you the rest. I loved the man. The times Sherri and I spent with you both ... in Daytona, Dahlonega, and everywhere else ... were amazing. And now Sherri and Phil are gone and I can scarcely believe it, but I remember and love them both. Phil was brilliant, and funny, and that intelligence and wit could be so overpowering that he'd catch you off guard a little when he said something to you that made you realize how much he...

Louise,
Thank you for thinking of us in this difficult time. There are countless facets about Phil; which I'm sure we could all share. He was a wonderful professor, with great insights and a killer sense of humor. He was a good friend, an adventurer (crossing America in a van during summer?) and a pretty darn good cook. His Datil pepper sauce was the best!
Macy, Carson, and I send our love and prayers to you and all of Phil's family and friends. God Bless you.

Louise, thinking of you at this difficult time. Thanks for bringing Phil into the lives of me and my family. We loved your visits. What knowledge and since of humor he had.Take care. Love from Vida

Phil was one of the most influential teachers I had at DBCC. HIs ability to excite learning in his students and his knowledge about the territory he called home, incited a thirst for history leading to my unquenchable curiosity and my minor in Southern History. His door was always open and I considered him not only my teacher, but also my friend.

Dear Lou,
Phil was the teacher I will always remember. He was the person who helped me look beyond my own experience. His memory will always live in his students, friends and loved ones.

You already know, I am sure, that teaching was his life, and he was one of the best I've ever known. In fact, he was one of the models who led me to the same profession. I loved teaching, too, and I'd have taught much longer than the 33 years I spent in the classroom if an injury had not led to retirement sooner than I had planned. So, although you'll miss him, take comfort in knowing that he lives on in those of us fortunate to have learned from him.

Susan (Smith) Yentz...

Although I have not seen Phil since we graduated together from Stetson in 1961 I consider him to have been one of my best friends during the time we spent together there.

He was a fine, fine person.

Perhaps the following will be helpful to you.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no...
