Phil Harley

I'm sure Phil is doing some deep thinking with God right now. From day one, when meeting him in undergraduate school, and then law school in Topeka, Kansas, Phil loved to "take a position" and fight to the end. He will be remembered by many in Kansas, because of his fight against the Rev. Fred Phelps, which took so much courage, patience and incredible skill. My daughter (Nicole) attends Gymboree together with Philip's twin girls. I do not know Philip professionally but his poise, humor and most importantly, love for his daughters, came across loud and clear even though we only chatted briefly. Our hearts go out to Mark, Sara, True, and Jen. May Philip watch over all of you from heaven.

Phil hired me for my first ever job as an attorney. A great guy with a great sense of humor. I got a job offer several years later at a different firm. They told me I got it because Phil recommended me. That was all they needed. God bless him and his family.

I was one of Phil's moot court partners at Washburn School of Law. for two years. We were also in many small philosophy classes together in undergraduate school at Washburn. Whatever else one can say about Phil, one must acknowledge that he was extraordinarily principled. I also remember that his creativity often made us wince, although he was often correct. I am so sorry that I did not know that he was ill and distressed that I did not stay in better contact with him over the years. ...
