Phil, you will be missed. This world, my life, is better, for you having been a part of it. You always stood up for what you knew was the right thing to do and you always were there to help your community, not just with talk, but with action. Action of service to your fellow man. As a police officer I wish the world had more of you. I know that you are now in a better Place and I know that you will be looking out after us all, as you always did. You will be missed and you and your loved ones...

To the Alvarez family; I would like to offer my sincere condolences on your loss. Mr. Alvarez was a very good man and a true gentelman. It was my honor to have known him during the years he graciously volunteered his time at the police department. He did much good in his time here with us, and he leaves a void that will be hard to fill.

To the Alvarez family: know our Mr. Phil will always be an important member of Pensacola Police Dept history for those of us that worked with him for years...and the fact he chose to put up with all of us (and many others out there) for a paycheck of smiles & friendship only. Special man, very pleasant personality. Thank you Mrs. Alvarez for sharing him with us over the years.

I am so sorry for your loss, I had the pleasure of working with Mr. Alvarez when I was a Longshoreman at the Port of Pensacola before the city allowed the non-union takeover, he was a truly good man and treated us with respect, I am a 3rd generation Longshoreman and proud to have had the chance of working with Mr.Alvarez at the Port when it was at its peak. Again, I'm so sorry for your loss.(now in North Carolina doing what I love, the same thing)

Dear Mrs. Alvarez and family, I also met Phil at the Pensacola Police Department where he served as a volunteer. When I was working the Desk Sergeant's Office, things always went smoother with him answering the phone and taking care of the walk-ins. He will be missed by all of us down here and our hearts go out to you and your family.

Dear Alvarez Family,
I knew Phil from my years as Director of Employees Services for the City of Pensacola and better as a Rotarian.
Phil was a prince of a man, one everyone admired and respected. He leaves a wonderful legacy for his family to cherish.
May GOD grant you continued strength. I will miss Phil!

Dear Alvarez Family, I met Mr. Phil at the Police Dept. (sitting in DSO as always restocking and cleaning the counters). From the moment we met, we always carried on with our cat and mouse fights, always ending with how have you been or I miss you and of course always ending in a bear hug. Mr. Alvarez was a beautiful person and I will miss him tremendously. God Bless you and you Family, my prayers are with you.
