Sad news indeed. We shared a common bond of small-town Illinois roots and a liberal education. He was a genuine thinker and caring person. Our adventures were epic and the memories grand. He will be missed.

I this is very sad news. Philip was my cousin. He was also named after my dad, Phil Armstrong, as I was. I remember him visiting us when he was 15 or 16. I am only a year older and had my license. We hung out and had a great time. My deepest sympathy for his family. I lost my husband in August so my heart goes out to them. So glad he was able to enjoy his grandson. RIP
