Jack: I remember well how kind and hospitable Phil was when I first arrived as a post doc from London in 1984. He was was first to discover the primary cytokine of the inflammatory response. Phil's intellect was inspirational to contribute to our findings of the anemias during diseased states amongs other great scientific findings of his.
