Not sure what to say?

I often remember Phillip when I send an email or text. I loved that he always said "Thanks!", even if it was just to thank me for reading his email. I have taken up his example to be appreciative of others, whether to thank them for something they do or simply for their time and attention. He was a great man.

Please know that you have the sympathy and prayers of many who knew Phil over the years. He was my friend back in law school, a warm, funny young man whose eagerness to do good in the world was infectious. The world, as well as his family, will surely miss him.

I am deeply saddened and shocked at the loss of Phil. I was fortunate to have been in the energy courtroom with him many times and saw his fervor in action. I will miss his laugh and wry sense of humor. I am honored to have called him a friend and colleague and send my prayers to his family. I hope you find comfort knowing that Phil touched folks on both coasts.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Chabot family.
Phil possessed a unique outgoing personality that enchanted all who knew him. We always made a point to speak with him at the various gatherings we've shared through the years; his whit and positive slant on life's challenges helped to put things into perspective. One encounter that comes to mind was a dinner honoring Barack Obama. We toasted, we laughed, we shared hope for our country, then drove through rainy Richmond trying to...

Phil and I were law firm colleagues for several years and I considered him one of my best friends. He was indeed a person of the highest integrity, extremely bright, a superb lawyer, a genuinely nice person, and great fun to be around. His sudden departure was a true shock, and I will miss him terribly. He loved his family and I wish them all the best.

A great man and a committed lawyer, loving what he did best in a courtroom . May you find peace at last. You will be missed by many. To his family, remember the good times. A good friend.

Lynne and Family,
You will all be in my prayers at mass on Christmas. Take care of each other.

Lynne and Family,

I never had the privilege of meeting Phil, but I love the tone with which his family and friends memorialize him. He was obviously loved and respected, and a man of deep passion and conviction. My heart goes out to you who remain behind to do the hard work of grief and remembrance. Please know you're not alone . . . and, as hard as it is to imagine right now, your suffering will eventually begin to abate though the hole in your heart will remain.

I am saddened by the news of Phil's passing. I very much enjoyed working with him throughout my career at the American Public Power Association. I know he was very proud of the work he did for his clients, but that paled in comparison to his pride in and love for his family.
