Dr. Colgan was born on November 20, 1952 and passed away on Tuesday, October 9, 2018. Dr. Colgan was a resident of Illinois at the time of passing. Dr. Colgan earned a Bachelor's Degree from St. Ambrose University, a Master's Degree from the University of Iowa, and a Doctorate of Philosophy in Psychology from the University of Minnesota. The visitation will be held from 9:00-10:00 a.m., Friday, October 19, 2018, at Haskell-Hott Funeral Homes in Wyoming, IL. The funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 a.m. in St. Dominic Catholic Church, Wyoming. The burial service will be in St. Dominic Cemetery, Wyoming. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to the UMN Medical School's Program in Human Sexuality's Sexuality and Aging Professorship, Fund #21697 (http://z.umn.edu/philipcolgan), or the Illinois Cancer Care Foundation, 8940 N Wood Sage Road, Peoria, IL 61615.
Philip helped me get through several challenging times in my adult life. I had hoped to see him on the streets of SF and extend my thanks someday. The memory of our talks will stay with me and his quote here is yet another gift! Thank you very much and God bless.

Philip was my counselor and SF. He quickly became more of a close friend who had an incredible ability to listen. I enjoyed my sessions with Philip and appreciated the perspective he always shared with me. I watched him gracefully battle cancer. I'm so grateful I got to meet him towards the end of his life. He will continue to play a huge role in my life!
