DOHERTY FUNERAL SERVICE Obituary

Cook, Philip S.--79, An 8-year resident of Saugus, formerly of Lynn and Somerville where he was raised, died on September 19, 2013.

Philip was the beloved son of Katherine (Sullivan) Cook, formerly of Somerville, and the late Philip E. Cook. He was the dear brother of Patricia Atkinson and her husband Richard of NY, Catherine Campbell and her husband Robert of Billerica, John Cook and his wife Connie of NH and the late Thomas Cook. Philip was also the loving companion for the past 25 years to Josephine Foti of Everett. He was the special uncle of Danielle Cunningham and is also survived by many other nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

The funeral procession will be held from the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) in Somerville on Monday morning, September 23, 2013 at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Benedict Church in Somerville at 10 o'clock. Relatives and friends are invited. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, September 22, from 4-7 p.m. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden.

Philip was a retired veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard. Prior to his retirement in 1997, Philip was an employee of the John Hancock Insurance Company for 20 years.
