Not sure what to say?

I just found out about Phil's passing when I went to his Facebook page to wish him a Happy Birthday. I am so sad. I first met Phil in May 1979 when I started working at the Metropolitan Division (NYC) of Cornell ILR (then known as Cornell NYSSILR). I was hired to create a labor relations library for the NYC office and Phil was my liaison to the Catherwood Library. Looking back, it must have been an unusual assignment because the NYC library was not part of the Catherwood, but Phil was...

Ginny and Family, Scott and I are very sorry to learn of Phil’s passing. He was a very important part of our son’s early life!
He was so vital to all the Sports our kids were privileged to play! Kiwanis baseball all the way to Yankee Stadium! Skiing at Greek Peak, and Youth Hockey at Lyman and Cass Park! We are forever grateful to have had Phil in our lives then. Great memories and our best to you, Ginny, and Greg and David. I don’t think we knew your daughter as well.

I just learned of Phil's passing from the obituary pages of today's Ithaca Journal. I am deeply sorry to learn that he is no longer with us and send my condolences to his family. I've had some very enjoyable hikes with Phil and in recent winters would meet up with him at Greek Peak for shared ski runs and good conversation on the chairlift. I will miss him.

To Phil's family,
Phil was a very regular visitor to my bookstore when I was the owner of Buffalo Street Books. He came in primarily to talk with me about our mutual love of jazz music. He was incredibly knowledgeable and often turned me on to artists I had missed. We also had a long-stranding bone of contention. My respect and his absolute disdain for Chet Baker. To this day, when I hear Chet, my first thought goes to Phil.

I hope he's listening to stride piano rather than...

Dave and family-
I am so sorry for your loss. May the memories you have with him bring you comfort and peace. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Phil was a wonderful guy. I cherish his friendship and the many memories of hiking and interacting with him. Thoughts and prayers to his family members who were always first in Phil's life.

I have known Phil since the 8th grade. I am much saddened by his passing. My condolences to Ginny, whom I have met, and to Phil's children and grandchildren. I am passing the obituary along to the Hanover High School alumni coordinator for the classes 1953-55.

When I first joined the Lansing Fire Department in the late 90s, Phil was one of the fire fighters that helped me feel as if I were part of larger family with deep roots of service. Rest easy Brother!

So sorry to learn of Phil’s passing- Great person and family man- Our families interested a lot- Northeast, St. Catherine’s and of course Hockey. Our prayers and love to the family ,
