Not sure what to say?

To the family of Phil David I want to say thank you and share my story with you. I am now 74 years old but 58 years ago when I was just 16 Phil helped change my life. We were a poor family and I would spend my summer vacation days at lifeguard station 2 in Santa Monica...as we used to say in those days "the beach is free"..where I first met Phil. Phil was such a good friend to me, and a veritable father to me in Indonesia. I will never forget Phil.

I am deeply saddened to hear of Phil's departure. The world feels a bit lonelier knowing that Phil's charisma is no longer with us. I truly miss Phil and think of him regularly. He is one of those rare individuals, the luckier of us meet a few times in our lifetime, whose friendship stays with you. Be strong Jennie and know we are thinking of you too.

I was so sorry to hear about Phil's passing. I remember the feeling of security when he was in charge of the aircraft, the many laughs we shared, and the pressure cooker fried chicken! My sincere condolences to Jennie and the family. He was a great guy. Alison Hartman

It is a little hard to reach you by phone. Many of your friends from "Irian Jaya" days are passing along condolences through us. I will forward them by...
