Not sure what to say?

Although it has been many years since Bill and I were sitting in Dr. Doherty's office, we think back on the fine care and great conversations we had over the years.........We still miss him to this day and I don't enter that walkway without looking over to the window and saying "good morning Dr. Doherty" we miss you more as days go by.

I knew and worked with Phil when he was a medical resident at Georgetown. He was a very fine doctor.

I was just thinking of Phil the other day, remembering his anniversary.
Phil was a doctor of the soul and heart long before he had an MD after his name.
I have so many happy childhood memories of him as we would play chess (beating him was just about impossible). His kind heart, gentle manner and incredible sport skills at the Mather playground and on Church St. always bring a smile to my face.
Thinking of each of you, dear siblings,as you continue to mourn Phil's loss and celebrate...

It may be almost 8 years since his passing but there isn't a day that I walk into Beth Israel Deaconess that I don't glance over to the right side of the walkway, glance at his old office, and feel sad at the loss of such a wonderful friend and physician.......He was "one of a kind".......we still speak of him with love and affection..............and are grateful for the sixteen years we called him our doctor and friend.

I am finding about Phil's passing seven years after the fact. As an intern at Georgetown University Hospital in 1965-66, Phil was my senior resident part of that time. He was a great leader and a wonderful doctor. I think of him often. I knew much of his medical history including the SBE. I was aware of what an insurance underwriter might calculate in terms of life expectancy, and yet he lived some 74 years, thank G-d.

Dr. Doherty was extremely kind to me when I was working across the hall from him at Milton Hospital. It's hard to believe that he has been gone for 5 years. I wish the best for his family. What a wonderful man. Charlotte Richards

To the Doherty family, I know this condolence is coming 4 years after Dr. Doherty's passing but I had just found the notice of your families loss and can't express how sorry I am, and what a wonderful Dr. of mine he was. He treated me from 1982 until the 90's and I can not say enough of how he was such a dedicated Dr. and as a lot have said friend to all his patients. I can remember a time on a Saturday morning when Dr.P called me to give my results and could not believe him calling on a...

I was very sorry to learn yesterday of my cousin Phil's death. As well as becoming a respected doctor, he was always a favorite of mine for his good humor and his kindness to me over the years. I will miss him.
