Not sure what to say?

Today is warm and sunny. I am sitting beside Phil on the deck of his house, his favorite spot. We sit, share some small talk and jokes, but mostly enjoy the deck's Mill Valley views together in silence. What a peaceful joy. Eventually Phil goes inside to practice his clarinet. I continue to sit on the deck while his notes fill the air. Phil may be gone but his bright days and even brighter music are not. How nice it is to have Phil and his music come to life for me every warm and bright day,...

I just learned about Phil's death. My husband, Marc Lifschey, and Phil were close friends for many decades. Phil kept in touch with me after Marc died. I am saddened to hear of his death and extend my heartfelt wishes to Josie and Mara.

Phil will live forever in the hearts of his many friends and admirers. Just being with Phil and sharing his warmth, humor and love of life made a good day into a great day. Just remembering times with Phil makes one smile. Phil defined the word "mensch".

RIP to a great musician, and even better human. To borrow from Mr. Olivier, who spoke so passionately and beautifully, Phil... Fath is a MENSCH!

I doubt that you remember me and my husband, Kenneth and our son, Michael but you and your father were such a joy in our lives. Your music, but also his wonderful presence and story telling was so enjoyed by us whenever we had the pleasure of sharing an evening with him I treasured the concerts you and he provided in Mill Valley and they gave me great comfort after my husband's death. Please know he is not forgotten and I wish you and your family memories of joy and music. Gale K. Gottlieb

My dear Philip, I remember you and Iris and your daughters - those were treasured memories. You are a genuine human being - if I might borrow from Archimedes.

His legacy of beauty and human honesty lives on in his daughter Josepha who teaches me violin. Philip´s love for his fellow man and music lives on through Josepha. I´m grateful for the huge love of this man for his life and wish his spirit peaceful journey. SueB

RIP Phil, my Pop loved you and Iris my mama Muriel loved you both as well. Thank you both for being there for us when Muriel passed in 1964. My second, Mom since 1966, loved you both too. Thanks Phil for speaking at Pops memorial. You are the last of the old time classical musicians . Much love to Mara and Josie.

I am Mason, his great, great nephew. I remember when I was a baby, I really loved Star Wars, So he played Star Wars music for me. Unfortunately, that was one of only two times I saw him throughout my life outside of FaceTime. His brother, my great grandpa would always say to me "you are a hell of a handsome man." I would like to say my goodbyes to my uncle Philly, and may you rest in peace.
