Not sure what to say?

What a guy, what a loss. Phil was one of the friendliest people I knew. Talk about a smile! He smiled when he said hello, smiled at the goodbye, and always had a kind word and a complement. Boy, does this world need more Phil Hearns. Can't wait til the reincarnation so he can do it all over again. He sure did touch us.What a magnificent person. A huge loss for all of us.

Phil was my friend and long suffering tennis partner for many years--a burden he graciously accepted. He remained a gentleman and good sport even when I gave him ample cause to lose his cool. A good example is the time we both hollered "yours"when a ball went between us. we crashed and landed on the ground laughing. Ever the genlemen Phi said to me "I guess it was yours".

Rest in peace Phil and reserve a court for me.

Phil and Ann Connell, 2006

Phil was a gentleman. I will always remember how he would recount, over the subsequent years, his favorable impression of my father even though he knew my father from having played with him at just one of the Saturday morning sessions. It never failed touch me over the years especially after my father died at the farily young age of 63. Phil's game was primarily a doubles game, but he never turned down the opportunity to play singles with me and getting me with his inside out serve. He...

My relationship with Phil, was also on the tennis courts, as Paul Brady said. He was always fair and cordial. May his familily's memories endure forever. Grace and Peace to his family

I really knew Phil primarily on the tennis courts at Mt. Vernon where he was a most formidable opponent and great partner. But as in any relationship, I quickly learned to appreciate his fairness, decency, and moral strength. Although we had not seen each other for many years, I thought about Phil quite often and was very pleased to see the recent pictures provided by Gerry Connell. The world needs more and more people like Phil Hearn, and I will miss him very much.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. My prayers for you at this time are that your memories of Phil are pleasant ones and your grief is short.
