Not sure what to say?

Having worked with Phil for many, many years (too many to mention), I learned to appreciate San Francisco through his historic tales.
He would always have a pleasant outlook on life, and he was a pleasure to work with. I'll truly miss him and his wonderful good-nature attitude. He was one-in-a-million and I'm glad that our paths have crossed.

I am so glad I had a chance to get to know Phil - though not for long, I'd grown quite fond of him. I will really miss his good humor and kindness, and lament the loss of his remarkable knowledge of San Francisco's history . He was one of a kind, and I am lucky to have known him.

Phil Hoffman was a true San Franciscan. He loved our city like few did or could, savoring its charms past and present. He was kind to all, quick with a quip, and generous in sharing his encyclopedic knowledge of San Francisco. We at Market Street Railway were delighted with the endless contributions he made as our organization's historian, and most recently on our Board of Directors. We greatly miss him and celebrate his life and his gifts to our city.
