Not sure what to say?

To David and the Holstein Family
My wife Johanna and I send our heartfelt condolences to your entire family. Phil was a very important influence on me when I was a Counselor at Camp Idylwold, He shared my enthusiasm and love of the Adirondacks and I was proud that I was able to accompany him on all 46 of his major assents. Your family welcomed Johanna and I to your home in 1968 when we were first married and we have never forgotten your generosity and friendship. I have many pictures of...

Dear Alyse,

Phil was one of the first friends I made at Hampshire. He was a great guy, and I was very sorry to hear of his death. I wish the best to your family. I'm sure that Phil will be dearly missed.

To the Holstein family,

I got to know Philip towards the end of my time at the Maxwell School. He was a very special person. I am sorry for your loss.

Dear Alyse & family,
I first met Phil upon the advice of Jay Weinstein as I had just started my OBGYN practice in 1979. He set me on a course that I followed meticulously and I am very pleased to say that all of our goals have been met due to Phil's good advice. Our four children...

My deepest sympathies to Alyse, Greg, Erin, Chuckie, Alex and the whole family, and to our community in Syracuse, which has lost one of its brighter lights. Phil's energy, enthusiasm, grace and kindness will be missed forever, and remembered by all. Blessings to all of you.

Alyse, Greg and Erin;
The Kerns in Indiana are saddened to hear of your loss - Phil was very instrumental in our lives and he will be greatly missed. We have made a donation to the Adirondack Foundation Generous Acts Fund "in memory of Philip L. Holstein" Blessings to you all.

Rest in peace dear Phil. We will never forget you. Your big smile will be the thing we remember the most. It was a pleasure to have known you and to have been a part of your life and your family. We love you.

Kindest thoughts and sincerest condolences. Al Fortino

The Holstein Comapny

My deepest sympathies go out to Alyse, Erin, Gregory & the rest of Phil's family. There are truly no words to describe the tremendous loss we have had in Phil's passing. Phil was the most genuine, compassionate, caring, positive, selfless, not to mention extremely intelligent individual I have ever met and I would not be where I am today if it were not for him! As my first employer, there will NEVER be another like Phil and he was far, far from just an "employer"...there will NEVER be another...
